‘Incredible, Am leaving ’ £10m player tells Pochettino he wants to leave, Chelsea could terminate his contract
According to The Athletic, Callum Hudson-Odoi has informed Chelsea of his desire to leave Stamford Bridge, adding to the list of players Mauricio Pochettino could lose this summer.
Hudson-Odoi spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen, where he struggled, managing just one goal in 21 appearances. Although he reported for pre-season training at Cobham, it is reported that he doesn’t expect to remain at Chelsea much longer and wishes to leave during this summer.
The 22-year-old still has one year left on his contract, and Chelsea has valued their academy graduate at £10 million, as reported by the Daily Mail. However, London World suggests that Chelsea could terminate Hudson-Odoi’s contract a year early if he agrees to receive half of his remaining salary upfront in a lump sum.
Hudson-Odoi, who has been with Chelsea since the Under-8 level, is said to be seeking regular first-team football and believes it is time to move on. Several clubs have shown interest in him, including Nottingham Forest, Fulham, and AC Milan, according to The Athletic. A move to AC Milan would be significant, and he would have familiar faces like Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori, and Olivier Giroud to help him settle in Italy.
Crystal Palace has also made initial contact with Hudson-Odoi’s representatives, as reported by Ed Aarons of The Guardian, but they have yet to follow up on their inquiry.
It will be worth monitoring this situation as the £120,000-per-week player prepares to depart from Stamford Bridge.
