‘if they double the pay i would rather join Arsenal than Chelsea this summer’ £38,000-a-week Pochettino target has decided
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!According to Football Transfers, Southampton’s No.45 Romeo Lavia appears to be leaning towards rejecting a move to Chelsea and instead opting to join Arsenal this summer.
The Guardian initially reported Mauricio Pochettino’s interest in the Belgian international for Stamford Bridge. However, it seems Chelsea might miss out on Lavia.
Football Transfers suggests that the 19-year-old has made the decision to join Arsenal, primarily due to the club’s participation in the Champions League next season. Additionally, Lavia is attracted to Mikel Arteta’s project at the Emirates Stadium, which focuses on developing young talents. The report also mentions that Arsenal can offer Lavia a more lucrative salary package compared to Chelsea.
At present, Lavia earns £38,000 per week at Southampton. Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna previously claimed that Chelsea had already presented Lavia with a contract offer. However, as per Football Transfers, it is likely that the Southampton midfielder will reject it.
Although Lavia has expressed his desire to join Arsenal, the Gunners have yet to reach an agreement with Southampton regarding the transfer fee. No official bid has been made, with the Saints holding out for a £50 million sum.
Consequently, Chelsea still have an opportunity to convince Lavia why a move to Stamford Bridge would be in his best interest this summer. Mauricio Pochettino may even seek the assistance of Eden Hazard, as it was recently revealed that Lavia had discussed a potential move with the Chelsea legend at the World Cup. The Express reported that Hazard encouraged Lavia to join Chelsea, indicating that the young midfielder values his compatriot’s opinion.
The situation remains fluid, and developments are expected throughout the summer transfer window.
