According to agent Alvaro Dominguez, the rumors suggesting a move from Chelsea to Atletico Madrid for Marc Cucurella are not true. Fabrizio Romano shared the statement on Twitter, denying the speculation about the potential transfer.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Last season was challenging for Cucurella after his £60 million transfer from Brighton. He struggled with mistakes in his game and lacked attacking threat in his role as a left wing-back, causing the team to become imbalanced. However, he did deliver some impressive performances when playing on the left side of a back three, particularly against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
While there were reports suggesting that new Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was open to giving Cucurella another chance, other sources indicated that some individuals within the club were considering selling him just a year after his arrival. This could be due to the depth of options available in Cucurella’s position, with Ben Chilwell likely to be the main starter. Lewis Hall, who emerged as a strong alternative last season despite primarily playing in central midfield during his academy years, and Ian Maatsen, returning from a loan spell at Burnley, add to the competition for the left-back position.
If Cucurella does get another opportunity at Chelsea, it will likely be his final chance to prove himself in West London.
