Todd Boehly, the Chelsea owner, has firmly rejected a £50 million bid from Manchester United for their talented midfielder Mason Mount, according to reports from The Athletic.
This marks Manchester United’s second attempt to acquire Mount, but Chelsea swiftly turned down their offer.
The bid from Manchester United was structured with an initial payment of £45 million, supplemented by an additional £5 million in potential add-ons. However, Chelsea is adamant on receiving a fee of £60 million, with an equivalent £5 million in add-ons.
Despite having just one year left on his current contract with Stamford Bridge, negotiations for a contract extension have yet to yield a satisfactory resolution.
Mason Mount, who emerged from Chelsea’s esteemed academy, has amassed an impressive tally of 195 appearances for the club since his debut in the first team back in 2017. During this time, he has played a pivotal role in contributing 33 goals to the team’s achievements.
