‘Even Messi will struggle for ball’ – Michael Owen feels so sorry for Liverpool star after Chelsea draw
Following Cody Gakpo’s underwhelming showing in the scoreless draw with Chelsea, Michael Owen has said he “feels sorry” for the new Liverpool acquisition.

Gakpo, 23, was acquired by Liverpool for over £40 million from PSV at the beginning of the month, although he has yet to score for the team.
Owen said to Premier League Productions, “I feel terrible for him honestly because he’s coming into a club that are incredibly inconsistent and sapped of all the confidence that we’ve seen in the past.
“It’s obvious he’s trying. He had a couple of half-chances today [against Chelsea].
“I’m sure he’ll be a terrific signing for the future, but right now, I would challenge even Lionel Messi to join this squad and look nice because it’s truly struggling,” the commenter said.
