The 30-year-old is in the last six months of his contract at Selhurst Park and will likely leave the organisation when it expires.
As Palace’s finest performer over the last five seasons, Zaha has drawn interest from a number of Premier League clubs. The Ivory Coast international has continued to excel in south London despite the lack of a move.
In 448 games for Palace across two stints, Zaha has contributed 76 assists in addition to 89 goals. The dynamic forward’s two best goal-scoring seasons, with 14 and 11 goals, came in his previous two years. He has six goals so far this season for Patrick Vieira’s team in 17 games.
The Athletic reported earlier this month that Zaha wanted to keep the team in the Premier League, and the former Manchester United player is expected to remain with the Eagles through the end of the current campaign. After the season, when he will be a free agent, his next move will presumably be decided.
Zaha, meanwhile, has stoked more scepticism among Palace supporters with a social media post on his individual Instagram page as January transfer rumours persist. In yesterday’s 1-0 loss to Chelsea, the forward uploaded a photo of himself cheering on the away fans with no caption.
Although the post does not imply that he is quitting the team, it has caused considerable concern among fans, who believe it to be a farewell message. Here are some of the things they have said.
@ssteiner_24: Please tell me this is not a goodbye
@thepalacedaily: Yeah, he’s gone
@lorcanrodgers_: This is a goodbye, no caption and everything
@n.robertson1: This is a goodbye, isn’t it?
