Mykhailo Mudryk, the team’s newest acquisition, will energise the Stamford Bridge crowd going ahead, according to Chelsea manager Graham Potter.
Prior to their match against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, the Blues made the deal official, and they took advantage of the opportunity to introduce the new player to the Stamford Bridge crowd at halftime.
The 22-year-old agreed to an 8.5-year contract and will don the number 15 jersey for the remainder of the campaign.
Chelsea’s plan to continue spending in players while being in compliance with UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations is evidently the odd contract length.
But it’s not a magic trick. The cost will eventually pile up in the long run—for instance, according to FFP, Chelsea will continue to pay Kai Havertz’s amortised transfer fee until 2025—but the new ownership group appears to believe that taking the risk is necessary to rebuild the squad.
The goal is to assemble a group of dynamic young talent, and Mudryk fits that description, according to Potter.
The Blues manager described Mudryk as a young player with exciting ability in the final third following the 1-0 victory over Palace (via BBC).
He is quick and to the point, and I believe the crowd will enjoy him.
The Chelsea social media crew has thankfully made it quite simple for the fans to realise what an exciting attacker Mudryk can be.
