After seeing Joao Felix receive a straight red card against Fulham in his club debut, Chelsea supporters have been venting their rage online.
After a strong, studs-up challenge on Kenny Tete in the second half, the 23-year-old was dismissed, and the Blues went on to lose the game 2-1.
It happens just days after Felix paid a loan fee of £9 million to join the team from Atletico Madrid.
It will be a setback for the club as they only signed him for the remainder of the season if he is suspended for the next three games.
Fans quickly expressed their outrage at the challenge, with many pointing out that it might be “30 days” before the new signing is able to play again.
Speaking ironically about Felix’s exorbitant and transient charge, another person noted that there was “nothing like value for money.”
Others noted that he received “$280k per week for a six-month vacation in London.”
Even without getting sent off, Chelsea played poorly, continuing a troubling run of form for the team.
The going seemed tough when Felix was sent off and Carlos Vinicius headed in a winner for the home side after 73 minutes. Although Fulham briefly tied the game through Kalidou Koulibaly, Willian, a former Blues player, chose not to celebrate out of respect for the club.
They are now 10th in the Premier League standings after winning just once in their previous nine games played in all competitions.
