As Thomas Tuchel overhauls his team, MARCOS ALONSO might depart Chelsea this summer.
Marcos Alonso is said to have made his decision on his future with Chelsea based on the major appeal’ of following in his father’s footsteps at Barcelona. The Spaniard’s contract at Stamford Bridge is up in a year, but he may be allowed to depart when Thomas Tuchel overhauls his team.
Tchouameni has established himself as a regular for France at the international level in recent months, and he is said to have a large following across Europe ahead of the forthcoming transfer season. According to 90min, Liverpool may be forced to enter a bidding battle to capture his services after a number of elite teams were represented at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy on Friday.
Several scouts from Liverpool, United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich were said to be in the grandstand watching Tchouameni’s outstanding performance for Monaco against Lille. Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Barcelona all sent representatives to France to scout the midfielder, who scored both of his team’s goals in a 2-1 win against the Ligue 1 winners last season.
On 42 minutes, Tchouameni opened the score with a thundering effort from outside the box, before Angel Gomes, a former United player, equalized for Lille just after the hour mark. The hosts dominated the game for the duration of it, but were forced to depart empty-handed as Tchouameni scored twice with only 15 minutes remaining in normal time.
Barcelona, according to the Mirror, is winning the fight to recruit Alonso, despite interest from a number of teams in Spain and England. After receiving encouragement from Alonso’s representation regarding his willingness to go to the Nou Camp, Barca is moving forward with discussions.
The heritage of Alonso’s father, Marcos Alonso Pena, is said to be fuelling his desire to join the Catalan giants. Pena spent five years with Barcelona and was dubbed an ‘idol’ by the club’s fans.
Despite being contracted to Chelsea for another season, the potential to follow in his footsteps is thought to be a major allure’ to the player. However, with Barca showing interest, Alonso has told the Blues of his ‘want to depart,’ allowing the Catalan club to confirm their interest.
Last week, Barca executives traveled to London for a string of talks regarding possible recruits, one of them is Alonso. Their discussions with Alonso were reported as ‘promising,’ and Barca will now try to reach an agreement to bring him to Spain in the summer.
With Alonso’s contract expiring in a year, Barcelona will need to strike an agreement on the price Chelsea will get. They want to sell ‘at least’ five players to help bankroll the reconstruction that will include Alonso.
