In the Carabao Cup match on Wednesday against Manchester City, Omari Hutchinson may get the chance to make his professional Chelsea debut.
Hutchinson has reportedly been instructed by the Blues not to report for international duty with Jamaica this week, allowing Graham Potter to potentially select him.
On the same day as the cup match versus City, Jamaica plays Cameron.
Early in the year, Hutchinson received his first international cap. Making a second would further advance his professional standing.
The possibility of playing Pep Guardiola’s enormous team, though, definitely outweighs that.
In a few days, Potter and his opponent are anticipated to switch sides at the Etihad.
Both coaches have access to a wide pool of players, though Potter will be slightly constrained by Chelsea’s lengthy injury list.
Hutchinson may be a real pain.
The Blues manager may decide to save those still in shape in favour of the youth contingent given that some key players are already absent.
Hutchinson, who joined the setup for development in July after leaving Arsenal, is to be commended.
He has now contributed to 12 goals or assists this year and came off the bench as Chelsea lost 4-1 to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.
In light of this, why not give the 19-year-old an opportunity to play against the current English champions?
He can’t do much worse than the starting lineup from yesterday’s miserable performance against Arsenal, after all.
Hutchinson also enjoys Pele’s endorsement, a legend in football.
What further proof does Potter require?
