Finally, Graham Potter revealed how he Plans to Play Marc Cucurella Despite Ben Chilwell Un-Benchable Form
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Graham Potter was asked how he felt about the current players in the squad and if he would retain the position Thomas Tuchel played the players on during his first interview as Chelsea Manager, and this is what he said in response.
He persuaded journalists that Marc Cucurella is a left back who lacks the qualities of a full back like Ben Chilwell.
He said this last year when asked about Marc Cucurella’s best position.
“He’s a left back who pushes up, but in that game [Manchester United], he was the lateral centre back in a back three that attacked.” At Sheffield United, Chris Wilder used to do it.
“There is nothing original about football.” When I looked at Marc’s attributes, I thought he could play that role well. He can defend well in wide areas, midfield, and is comfortable enough on the ball to build up and attack late. So you look at your opponent and think to yourself, “OK, maybe we can use this idea.”
He also stated that in a 4-3-3 formation, he would prefer Cucurella over Ben Chilwell, but as we all know, Graham Potter prefers playing three at the back, just like Thomas Tuchel, so Marc Cucurella would take the left centre back position, while Ben Chilwell would take the left wing back position.
Do you think it’s a good idea to use Marc Cucurella as a left centre back? If you were a manager, who would you start on the left wing if both players are available? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
