They had every right to be upset since they were losing and Everton missed an opportunity to kick the ball out for a throw-in. They chose to continue attacking, forcing Mendy to make a save.
The commentator confirmed that the incident that resulted in Richarlison’s injury in Chelsea’s penalty box was investigated behind the scenes by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), but that there was no evidence of foul play and that it was the Everton striker who kicked Reece James when both players went for the ball.
Mendy and Alonso were likely aware of Richarlison’s attempt to buy time, and Everton’s refusal to kick out the ball after seeing him laying on the ground justified their wrath.
