Thomas Tuchel said to the Evening Standard that he had seen some laughter among the players during Chelsea’s victory against Everton, particularly around halftime.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Jorginho’s penalty kick just before halftime gave the Blues a 1-0 victory, despite the offensive prowess on display rarely posing a danger to Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
The dearth of a prolific goal scorer over the last several seasons has been a major problem, with Mason Mount being the only player to hit double digits in a season in that time as of last time out.
The previous season, Jorginho was the team’s leading scorer, scoring all of his goals from the penalty spot.
The irony was not lost on the German, who remarked that it was amusing despite suggesting that there is a desire for the attack to increase from the level established last season.
The lists the problems with his offence.
He said: “Well, at halftime, we were making jokes about how maybe this was a classic Chelsea game—we won 1-0, and Jorgi scored on a penalty. What is, is what is. I believe Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, and Kai Havertz will all benefit from Raheem Sterling’s support.
“Our formation is a deep formation since the three centre backs and the two No. 6s make up the centre of the formation; with a deep formation, you largely depend on the two wing-backs.”
Raheem Sterling, a member of the Premier League’s “100 clubs,” has been hailed as the player Tuchel is expecting to score the goals this season.
Despite seeming to be Chelsea’s most threatening attacker on the field at Goodison Park, he failed to register a goal despite having a shot disallowed for offside early on.
Instead, the defence stood out in this match, with Thiago Silva and Kalidou Koulibaly notably shining despite being put under constant Everton siege.
