Azpi would “immediately join,” according to Romero, indicating that personal terms and maybe an agreement between the clubs have been reached and that all parties are just awaiting Kounde’s decision before hitting the button to finalize the deal.
This shows that Kounde’s signing was part of a plan to use him right back. A replacement for Azpilicueta, who now serves as Reece James’ lone backup at wing back down that side, would be definitely necessary if Azpi were to leave unless we’re okay with Kounde playing right back in a back 4.
