Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been eager to reinforce the defense after Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen left for Real Madrid and Barcelona, respectively, earlier this month.
After reportedly contemplating proposals for Manchester City center-half Nathan Ake and Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe, the Blues are reportedly close to signing experienced 31-year-old Koulibaly.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the Senegal captain is willing to go on a private plane and fly to west London before his Stamford Bridge medical on Thursday.
Koulibaly was “almost gone,” and the Napoli manager told his squad earlier this week that he would be leaving the club this summer, according to Il Corriere Dello Sport.
The Italian club was compelled to arrange a move as Koulibaly approached the last year of his contract when it was claimed that he “rejected a contract extension with Napoli” amid early ties to Barcelona.
