Despite Jackson’s struggles, Marc Guiu, Chelsea’s backup striker, has had limited Premier League minutes this season. When asked about Guiu’s readiness, manager Enzo Maresca gave a positive yet non-committal response:
Maresca: “Marc is improving a lot, to be honest. He is doing fantastic; day by day, he is getting more and more ready for that sort of game. But sometimes the decision is because I see something, and sometimes it is good, sometimes it is not. For sure, Marc, I think day after day, he is more ready.”
While Maresca praises Guiu’s development, he avoids promising him a bigger role. Many expect the 19-year-old Spaniard to only get a few token minutes when Chelsea faces West Ham on Monday night.
Maresca on “Aggressive” West Ham
The Chelsea boss also shared his thoughts on the threat posed by Graham Potter’s West Ham, highlighting their aggressive style of play:
“They are very aggressive. I watched four or five games with Graham in charge. You can see they are trying to be very aggressive, even in the last game against Aston Villa. It will be a tough game, like always.”
Will Guiu Get His Chance?
With Chelsea struggling for goals and West Ham expected to be tough and physical, will Maresca finally give Marc Guiu a real opportunity to make an impact? Chelsea fans will be hoping so.
