Chelsea academy product Harvey Vale is on the verge of completing a permanent transfer to Queens Park Rangers, according to Simon Johnson of The Athletic. The 21-year-old midfielder is reportedly traveling for a medical ahead of signing a long-term deal with the Championship side.
Deal Structure: No Transfer Fee but Future Benefits for Chelsea
With Vale’s contract set to expire in the summer, Chelsea have opted not to demand a transfer fee. Instead, the deal includes:
✅ Sell-on clause – Chelsea will receive a percentage of any future transfer fee if QPR sell Vale.
✅ Performance-based add-ons – These are likely tied to appearances and goal contributions over time.
Vale is expected to sign a contract running until 2028, with an option for an additional year.
Delayed but Right Move for Vale
A move away from Chelsea should have happened last summer, following a promising loan spell in League One. However, despite interest from various clubs—and even turning down a Saudi Pro League move—he ended up staying at Chelsea’s Development Squad, where he had already outgrown the level of competition.
Now, with QPR in good form in the Championship, this move presents a great opportunity for Vale to develop his senior career and potentially earn a return to the Premier League in the future.
Chelsea fans will be watching his progress closely, hoping this is the start of a successful next chapter.
