Chelsea Take on Leicester Without Key Player Pedro Neto
Return of Premier League Action
Chelsea is back in action this Saturday as domestic football resumes following the international break. The Blues are set to face Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, but they’ll be missing an important player from their lineup—Pedro Neto.
Pedro Neto Ruled Out Due to Injury
Unfortunately, Pedro Neto will not feature in Chelsea’s squad this weekend. The 24-year-old winger sustained a minor injury during his time with the Portugal national team, which has left him unavailable for selection.
Fans were eager to see Neto continue his fine form, especially on the right wing, where he’s been a standout performer recently. However, his absence means the team must look to others to secure three points in this crucial away match.
Update from Enzo Maresca on Neto’s Absence
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, who interestingly faces his former club Leicester, addressed Neto’s injury in a pre-match update. The head coach confirmed that Neto is sidelined due to the knock he picked up during international duty. Additionally, Malo Gusto is out of contention due to illness.
“Malo felt unwell overnight and is unable to play today,” Maresca explained via the Chelsea app. “As for Pedro, he suffered a knock during the international break. While he’s improving, we can’t risk playing him just yet.”
Neto, who joined Chelsea this summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers, had previously spoken about feeling more settled within the team. His performances have indeed been pivotal in establishing him as a regular in the starting lineup, making his absence even more frustrating for fans.
Chelsea’s Starting XI Against Leicester
Despite the notable absentees, Chelsea still fields a strong lineup for this afternoon’s clash at Leicester. Benoit Badiashile, Enzo Fernandez, and Joao Felix are among the standout names in the starting eleven. Each of them will be looking to make an impression, particularly as opportunities have been limited in recent Premier League games.
Elsewhere, it’s reassuring for fans to see both Cole Palmer and Levi Colwill return to the lineup. The duo had withdrawn from international duty with England but are now fit to start, offering a boost to the team.
