As 2025 looms, Chelsea is gearing up for significant roster changes, with some high-profile departures seemingly on the horizon. Among the most likely to leave are left-back Ben Chilwell and midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka. Reports from the past weeks suggest that both players no longer feature prominently in manager Enzo Maresca’s plans. Chelsea has actively encouraged offers for Chilwell, who has garnered interest from Premier League clubs as well as top teams in La Liga and Serie A.
Meanwhile, renowned journalist Simon Phillips recently disclosed that Ipswich Town has inquired about Chukwuemeka’s availability for a potential January move.
“Ipswich Town has expressed a strong interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka,” Phillips reported. “It’s understood that initial inquiries have been made to explore a January move. Chukwuemeka, eager for regular playing time, is open to offers and favors staying within England—ideally in London. During the summer window, similar opportunities arose but didn’t materialize.”
Top European clubs such as AC Milan and Barcelona are also reportedly eyeing Chukwuemeka. Chelsea is willing to sell for the right price but is also open to a loan-to-buy arrangement, enabling the player to depart permanently in the summer.
“At this stage, Ipswich’s inquiry is believed to be preliminary,” added Phillips. “Whether it’s for a loan or permanent transfer remains unclear, though a loan-to-buy option seems plausible. Chelsea, keen to offload surplus talent, is prepared to negotiate.”
Christopher Nkunku and Mudryk Spark Transfer Buzz
French attacker Christopher Nkunku has emerged as another potential departure from Stamford Bridge. Speculation is rife that Manchester United is considering a move, and sources suggest the player may be intrigued by the prospect of joining Old Trafford, as reported by Football Insider.
Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk is another name circulating in transfer rumors. Despite sporadic flashes of brilliance, the 23-year-old has struggled to live up to the £62 million Chelsea paid for him. Mudryk’s inconsistency and fierce competition for a starting spot have prompted speculation about a January exit.
Recent reports indicate that Crystal Palace has approached Chelsea regarding a potential loan deal for Mudryk. Football Transfers notes that this move could prove “transformative” for Palace as they seek to boost their Premier League standing.
Mudryk, who showcased immense potential at Shakhtar Donetsk before joining Chelsea, has shown glimpses of his talent but hasn’t cemented his role in the squad. A temporary move could provide the playing time he needs to rediscover his form, offering both the player and Chelsea a chance to realign expectations.
