During Chelsea’s recent 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, a former Arsenal player admitted that one Chelsea star had him genuinely concerned.
In this intense London derby, either side could have claimed victory, but it was Pedro Neto’s goal that ultimately secured Chelsea a point. Neto, who arrived at Chelsea from Wolves over the summer, made an impact after a swift, under-the-radar transfer driven by Chelsea’s owner, Behdad Eghbali.
Since his move, Neto has impressed Chelsea fans, consistently demonstrating a high work rate and a real knack for creating danger in attack. Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, former England manager Sam Allardyce and David Seaman discussed Neto’s standout performance, with Allardyce noting that Neto has always been a player who keeps him on edge.
Allardyce explained that in past matches where he’s managed against Neto, he’s been amazed by the Portuguese winger’s sheer speed. Seaman shared similar sentiments, admitting that Neto’s play was his biggest concern in the recent clash.
“I was more afraid of Neto,” Seaman confessed.
“Neto, yeah,” Allardyce replied, reflecting on his experiences. “When you see him on the touchline, you can’t help but think, ‘Wow, he’s quick!’ It’s tricky when he drifts from his usual position on the right wing to a more central area. Defenders hesitate, thinking they’ve got their man, and in that moment, Neto’s already found space. And I have to say, his finish was really impressive.”
