Levi Colwill, Chelsea’s 21-year-old defensive talent, has shared his candid feelings about his teammate Cole Palmer during training sessions. The two, both representing the Blues, are currently at the England national team camp during the international break. Palmer, who is 22 years old, has quickly become a standout player for Chelsea, and his performance hasn’t gone unnoticed by his fellow teammates.
Palmer’s Outstanding Form for Chelsea
Cole Palmer has been lighting up the Premier League this season. As Chelsea’s rising star, the left-footed forward has been in sensational form, scoring six goals and contributing five assists in just seven league appearances. He’s not only proven himself to be a prolific scorer, but his creativity shines through as well, creating more chances from open play than anyone else in the league.
Colwill on Palmer’s Training Brilliance
When discussing Palmer’s performance in training, Colwill humorously explained how challenging it is to face the Chelsea playmaker. “He’s incredibly frustrating to deal with during training,” Colwill remarked. “It’s like he just scores effortlessly, and he doesn’t even make a big deal out of it.”
The defender added with a grin, “He’s not the same guy when he’s up against me in training—just kidding! Of course, he’s still incredible.” According to Colwill, Palmer’s ability to score from almost any position makes him a nightmare for defenders. “Give him just half a yard, and it’s a goal. He’ll casually nutmeg you, score, and walk away like it’s nothing. That’s the worst part – you just can’t get him back. Whether he’s outside or inside the box, it feels like 95% of the time, he’s going to score. You see it in his matches too.”
Cole Palmer’s Influence on England’s National Team
Chelsea fans know firsthand that Palmer consistently makes a positive impact whenever he steps onto the pitch. His recent performances have been exceptional, especially in the creative No.10 role. However, despite his nine senior caps for England, where he’s scored two goals, he has only started twice for the national side, and both games were friendlies.
Incorporating Palmer into England’s starting XI has become increasingly challenging given the pool of world-class talent available, but many believe he deserves a guaranteed spot based on his current form.
What to Expect in England’s Upcoming Matches
This week, England faces crucial Nations League fixtures against Greece (Thursday) and Finland (Sunday), and fans are eagerly awaiting the line-up from head coach Lee Carsley. With Palmer in such blistering form, there’s a growing belief that he could become a mainstay in the England squad moving forward.
