Chelsea are desperate to part ways with Romelu Lukaku this summer, but that hasn’t led them to accept just any offer for the striker. Napoli are keen to sign Lukaku, but as of now, Chelsea have yet to agree to a deal with the Italian club.
Lukaku himself is eager for the transfer to happen and has reportedly been in discussions with Napoli’s manager, Antonio Conte. A potential swap deal involving Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, and Lukaku has been rumored, with Chelsea showing interest in the Nigerian forward.
Chelsea’s Asking Price for Lukaku
Chelsea paid nearly £100 million for Lukaku, and naturally, the club is hoping to recoup as much of that investment as possible. According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Chelsea have been asking for €40 million (£36.7 million) for the 31-year-old Belgian striker.
However, Napoli’s latest offer is closer to €30 million (£26.6 million), and Chelsea’s stance on the price has reportedly softened. The club may now be willing to sell Lukaku for less than their initial valuation. This is good news for Napoli, who appear determined to sign him. Lukaku has already rejected a move to Aston Villa, so Napoli have little competition for his signature.
Cesare Casadei Could Join Lukaku at Napoli
If Lukaku completes his move to Napoli, there’s a chance that another Chelsea player, Cesare Casadei, could follow him to the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. Casadei’s name has come up in discussions, particularly in talks about a swap deal for Osimhen. However, if Napoli sign Lukaku separately, Casadei’s move would also have to be negotiated independently.
The 21-year-old midfielder doesn’t appear to have a future under Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, especially after being left out of the club’s pre-season tour. A return to Italy could be beneficial for Casadei, providing him with the opportunity to develop further.
For Chelsea, the main focus remains on finalizing a deal with Napoli that would allow them to move Lukaku off their books for good.
