Arsenal’s Transfer Rumors Heat Up
Arsenal supporters believe they have identified the club’s next transfer target, amid news that they might miss out on signing Wolves’ star Pedro Neto.
According to RMC Sport, Neto is set to join Chelsea, having agreed in principle with Wolves. The Express and Star later reported that the initial fee for Neto would be £51 million, potentially rising to £54 million with bonuses. Wolves initially signed Neto from Lazio for £18 million in 2019.
The 24-year-old winger was linked with a potential move to Arsenal this summer as Mikel Arteta sought additional competition for Bukayo Saka on the right wing. The pursuit was always going to be challenging, with interest from Liverpool and Manchester City.
However, Chelsea has managed to outbid all three clubs, with The Athletic reporting that Neto will undergo a medical at Cobham before completing his move to Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal’s Transfer Challenges
This development is a setback for Arteta, who has already secured two permanent signings this summer: goalkeeper David Raya, whose loan from Brentford was made permanent, and defender Riccardo Calafiori.
Now, Arsenal fans have speculated about who the Gunners might target next, with many suggesting Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk as a possibility.
Chelsea had previously beaten Arsenal to Mudryk’s signing in January 2023, with Shakhtar Donetsk’s president confirming that the Blues had submitted a more substantial offer.
Mudryk signed a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge but struggled to find his form during his first year with the club. He started showing glimpses of his potential under Mauricio Pochettino towards the end of the season. Still, it’s uncertain whether another managerial change—and the signing of Neto—will affect his progress.
Fans’ Theories
One Arsenal fan tweeted, “This is just a hunch, but I do wonder with Neto going to Chelsea, if we will go for Mudryk. Clearly is loved a lot at Arsenal, for how much we were willing to push the boat for him.”
Another fan added, “Would be crazy if Arteta pushes for Arsenal to sign Mudryk on a reduced fee. You can feel it in the air.”
With the transfer window still open, it remains to be seen what moves Arsenal will make and whether they will pursue Mudryk as their next target.
