Chelsea Eyeing Senior Forward Before Transfer Deadline
With the Premier League season fast approaching, new head coach Enzo Maresca and his Chelsea squad are gearing up for a busy campaign. The addition of Conference League fixtures adds to their demanding schedule as they aim to build on their strong finish last season. While it wasn’t enough to secure Mauricio Pochettino’s position, the club saw promise in their end-of-season form, winning 10 of their last 18 Premier League games, losing three, and drawing five.
To support Maresca, Chelsea has made several key signings. With co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley, Todd Boehly has approved nine new deals for Chelsea. These signings include Tosin Adarabioyo (Fulham), Omari Kellyman (Aston Villa), Renato Veiga (FC Basel), Filip Jorgensen (Villarreal), Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Leicester City), Marc Guiu (Barcelona), Estevao Willian (Palmeiras), Caleb Wiley (Atlanta United), and Aaron Anselmino (Boca Juniors). The club is also targeting a senior forward to further strengthen the squad.
Ongoing Negotiations with Napoli for Victor Osimhen
There have been ongoing links with Napoli star Victor Osimhen, with credible sources indicating that talks between Chelsea and the Serie A club are progressing. Journalist Ben Jacobs reported on social media that Chelsea is in discussions to sign Osimhen, while Romelu Lukaku has agreed to a three-year deal to move to Napoli for £38 million.
Jacobs detailed the situation, stating, “Chelsea are in talks with Napoli over Victor Osimhen, and Romelu Lukaku has agreed to a pay cut and a three-year contract to join Napoli.” Chelsea is reluctant to pay the €120m+ release clause but is interested in Osimhen if the structure changes or the price drops. Discussions about a loan with an option have taken place, and Napoli has proposed converting the loan option into an obligation if Chelsea qualifies for the Champions League.
Osimhen’s Potential Move to Chelsea
Osimhen has reportedly agreed to terms with PSG but prefers a move to Chelsea if an agreement is reached with Napoli. Talks with PSG have not progressed, and a Saudi offer for Osimhen is unlikely unless he indicates his willingness to move, having previously rejected three offers from Al-Hilal.
Napoli’s interest in Lukaku and Osimhen’s eagerness to leave are factors that could facilitate his transfer to Chelsea. With the summer transfer deadline approaching, Chelsea is working diligently to secure the Nigerian striker and bolster their attacking options for the upcoming season.
