“He’s Better than Adeyemi” – Chelsea agree to sign the 2nd best dribbler in the world

Despite Cole Palmer’s impressive tally of 22 Premier League goals last season, Chelsea still require additional options in attack to secure a top-four finish under Enzo Maresca in the 2024/25 season. The new manager has the chance to make significant changes to the first team this summer, possibly reducing the playing time of several current players at Stamford Bridge.
Current Attacking Woes
Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Noni Madueke collectively scored just 18 goals last season. This highlights Chelsea’s urgent need to strengthen their forward line, as the team missed the joint-second most big chances in the league.
Transfer Rumors and Targets
Various names have been linked with a move to Chelsea, including Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen, and Michael Olise. However, Olise opted to join Bayern Munich instead. Now, new potential signings have emerged, aiming to bolster Maresca’s attacking options.
Chelsea’s Attempts to Sign New Forwards
Karim Adeyemi
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are in negotiations to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi this summer. The 22-year-old scored three goals in 21 Bundesliga appearances last season and showed his skill in the Champions League final against Real Madrid. Adeyemi could be available for around £25 million, with Chelsea already in talks over a potential deal.
Francisco Conceição
Chelsea have also expressed interest in Porto attacker Francisco Conceição. The Portuguese player has a €30 million (£25 million) release clause in his contract, which will increase to €45 million (£38 million) next Monday. Conceição had an excellent season, contributing nine goals in 27 Liga Portugal matches and scoring the winner against the Czech Republic at Euro 2024.
Why Conceição is a Better Option than Adeyemi
While both Adeyemi and Conceição possess great talent, Conceição appears to be the better fit for Chelsea’s needs. The 21-year-old, despite playing in a lower-quality league, has demonstrated his star potential. Talent scout Jacek Kulig has described him as “exceptional.” Conceição has completed more than double the number of progressive carries compared to Adeyemi and averages over one more shot per 90 minutes. Standing at just 5 feet 6 inches, his low center of gravity allows him to maneuver past defenders with ease, completing 67 successful take-ons—nearly four times more than Adeyemi last season.
Conceição’s ability to create opportunities and beat defenders is evident, making him a crucial addition for Chelsea as they aim to close the gap with teams like Arsenal and Manchester City. If Chelsea decide to back Maresca in the transfer market, they should prioritize signing Conceição, who undoubtedly offers the more effective option for the club this summer.
