Chelsea has seen a major shake-up since the new owners took over at Stamford Bridge. Just look at the team that won the Champions League three years ago; almost none of those players are still around, including the manager, Thomas Tuchel.
To be fair, Chelsea has managed to rake in a lot of cash from player sales, which is crucial for balancing their finances. Yet, one of the academy’s brightest prospects, Callum Hudson-Odoi, was sold for a mere £5m last summer.
Hudson-Odoi joined Nottingham Forest on deadline day and worked hard to prove Chelsea wrong for letting him go. He had his best goalscoring season, even netting one against Chelsea in a 3-2 loss. According to the Mail Online, Nottingham Forest now values him at £40m—eight times what they paid less than a year ago.
Despite his success elsewhere, some Chelsea fans are surely proud to see Hudson-Odoi fulfilling the promise he showed at Cobham. However, it’s clear he had plenty of chances to shine at Stamford Bridge and even struggled during a loan spell in Germany.
Meanwhile, Chelsea hopes Mykhailo Mudryk will finally start to impress on the left wing, as he hasn’t made much of an impact since joining in January 2023.
