The Foxes’ star midfielder, who scored an impressive 12 goals and provided 15 assists in 49 appearances last season, was instrumental in Leicester’s promotion back to the Premier League. This has made him a key target for Chelsea, especially since new boss Enzo Maresca is very familiar with Dewsbury-Hhall from his previous stint at Leicester. If all goes well, Maresca could soon reunite with one of his standout players from the 2023/2024 season.

As widely reported and confirmed by reputable sources like Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is deep in negotiations for Dewsbury-Hall, despite Brighton initially reaching an agreement to swap Jakub Moder for the 25-year-old. Chelsea’s inquiry this week disrupted Brighton’s deal, as the club is now keen to secure Dewsbury-Hall for Maresca.
Finding Common Ground
Chelsea has been working to find a mutually agreeable deal with Leicester, but the process has been anything but simple. BBC journalist Nizaar Kinsella reported that Chelsea’s initial bid for Dewsbury-Hall was rejected because it did not meet Leicester’s £40 million valuation.
Potential Swap Deal Involving Casadei
Kinsella also revealed that Chelsea is considering offering highly-rated young talent Cesare Casadei in a swap deal to acquire Dewsbury-Hall. The Leicester star has rejected Brighton’s advances and is open to joining Chelsea, although he is not in a hurry to leave his current club. Casadei, who has been compared to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, might be the key piece Chelsea is willing to part with to finalize the deal.
Casadei’s Journey and Potential
Casadei was signed for an initial £12 million from Inter in 2022 and spent the first half of last season on loan at Leicester before making brief appearances off the bench for Chelsea on 11 occasions.
Andrea Zanchetta’s Praise
Andrea Zanchetta, Inter’s Under-18 coach, had high praise for Casadei, calling him “a diamond in the rough that needs to be polished with care and attention.” Zanchetta believes that if Casadei reaches his full potential technically and tactically, he could be among the best in his generation, not just in Italy but globally.
