Chelsea has agreed to pay £60 million for a “wonderful” player after extensive talks with his agents, pulling ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign him this summer.
Busy Summer Ahead for Chelsea
Fabrizio Romano has hinted that Chelsea will have a bustling summer transfer window. This follows their appointment of Enzo Maresca, who replaced the outgoing Mauricio Pochettino. They’ve already secured defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham to fill the gap left by Thiago Silva. Now, their focus is shifting towards acquiring forwards.
Targeting Jhon Duran and Lois Openda
Chelsea has been in talks to sign Jhon Duran from Aston Villa. However, negotiations are stalling due to Villa’s demands. If the deal for Duran falls through, RB Leipzig star Lois Openda is being considered as an alternative.
Eyeing Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise
Amid their striker pursuit, Chelsea is also pushing to sign Crystal Palace star Michael Olise. The 22-year-old impressed last season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 19 Premier League appearances after recovering from an injury. His former manager, Roy Hodgson, praised Olise as an “enormous talent.”
“In the first half, he was just a figure on the right, but he wasn’t creating chances or showing aggression. In the second half, he excelled in both defense and attack, showing what a wonderful player he is,” Hodgson said after a game against Leeds in 2023. “He has great potential for a fantastic career and future. We hope Crystal Palace can provide that platform for him.”
Chelsea’s £60 Million Move for Olise
According to Foot Mercato, Chelsea has made significant progress in talks with Olise’s representatives. While Manchester United is also interested, they are hesitant to meet the £60 million price tag. This hesitation has put Chelsea in the lead to secure Olise’s signature. The Blues’ willingness to meet the financial demands has given them the upper hand, promising good news for their new manager, Enzo Maresca.
