Maresca Takes Over as Chelsea Head Coach
Chelsea has officially announced Enzo Maresca as their new head coach. The Italian has signed a five-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months. The ownership group expressed their enthusiasm on Chelsea’s official website, stating:
“We are thrilled to welcome Enzo into the Chelsea family. We look forward to supporting him and the rest of the sporting team in fulfilling their potential and our expectations over the years to come. He is a highly gifted coach and leader that we are confident can help fulfill our vision and competitive goals for the Club.”
Maresca shared his excitement, saying: “To join Chelsea, one of the biggest clubs in the world, is a dream for any coach. It is why I am so excited by this opportunity. I look forward to working with a very talented group of players and staff to develop a team that continues the club’s tradition of success and makes our fans proud.”
Busy Summer Ahead for Maresca

Maresca is expected to have a busy summer, already making decisions regarding the current Chelsea squad, including goalkeeper Robert Sanchez. In the transfer market, Chelsea is poised to secure Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer, potentially the first of many arrivals.
The club is reportedly preparing to bid £85 million for PSG winger Ousmane Dembele and may open talks with Leeds for Crysencio Summerville. Another target on Chelsea’s radar is Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz.
Chelsea and Tottenham Target Rodrigo Muniz
Reports from Brazil, relayed by Sport Witness, indicate that both Chelsea and Tottenham have initiated contact regarding a potential move for Fulham striker Rodrigo Muniz. Both clubs have requested information on the transfer cost. Fulham, who wanted just €8 million (£6.8 million) last year, are now demanding up to €40 million (£34 million) after Muniz’s impressive season.
Muniz, 23, had his best season in the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 10 goals in all competitions under Marco Silva at Fulham. He previously managed only two goals in 17 appearances during his loan spell at Middlesbrough in 2022/23.
Praise from Alan Shearer
Premier League legend Alan Shearer praised Muniz in February after the striker scored twice against Bournemouth. Shearer commented, “He really was a handful. Tough to play against, horrible to play against in fact. That’s always a good thing for a centre-forward, that’s what you have to be. He was strong, he ran the channels, he brought players into the game, and he really upset the Bournemouth defenders in every way, in everything he was doing. He was willing to run in behind and on one of the occasions he does it, they get their first goal because of it.”
Conclusion
Whether Chelsea or Tottenham will meet Fulham’s valuation for Muniz remains to be seen, but the striker’s strong performance last season has certainly put him on the radar of both clubs.
