With the transfer window opening on June 14, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca is gearing up for significant moves. Reports indicate that Chelsea’s management is ready to support Maresca, who will replace Mauricio Pochettino next season. One potential target is Fulham center-back Tosin Adarabioyo, who could join Chelsea on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month. Additionally, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, are on the hunt for a high-scoring striker. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggests Chelsea could make up to five signings for Maresca this summer.
Why Chelsea Chose Maresca
According to Romano, Chelsea is impressed with Maresca’s approach, describing him as a dynamic and modern coach who focuses on possession football to control games. Romano mentioned that Chelsea had been looking for this type of manager when considering Pochettino’s departure. This summer promises to be busy for Chelsea, with potential signings including goalkeepers, center-backs, strikers, and wingers. Maresca will play an active role in these decisions.
Potential Signings from Barcelona
Reports suggest that Chelsea might find valuable additions in La Liga, particularly from Barcelona. Chelsea is targeting center-back Ronald Araujo, with Jules Kounde and Raphinha also on their radar. Kounde is valued at around £43 million, while Raphinha could be available for approximately £47 million, making the total for the duo about £90 million. These players are reportedly high on Maresca’s wish list.
Maresca’s Interest in Kounde and Raphinha
A recent Spanish report indicates that Maresca is keen to bring both Kounde and Raphinha to Chelsea. The former Manchester City staff member aims to make significant changes, reshaping the squad to fit his vision. Raphinha, who scored nine goals and provided 11 assists in La Liga and the Champions League last season, and 25-year-old French international Kounde, who was a regular starter in 32 La Liga matches under Xavi, are seen as key targets for Maresca.
