Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has pinpointed a Chelsea player who could pose a significant threat to his team in Sunday’s match. As the Premier League season wraps up, Chelsea will host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s Strong Form
The two teams previously battled to a 0-0 draw back in April. However, Chelsea is in much better shape this time, having won their last four league games. Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino’s side currently sits sixth in the league table, and avoiding defeat on Sunday will secure their spot in European competitions next season.
Iraola Praises Cole Palmer
Bournemouth’s Iraola has identified Chelsea’s Cole Palmer as a major concern for his team. The 22-year-old forward has been a standout performer for the Blues, netting 22 league goals this season. Iraola acknowledged Palmer’s potential to end his impressive debut season on a high note.
“They (Chelsea) have very good individual threats. They have players finishing the season [well]. Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson…” Iraola said via Bournemouth’s official YouTube channel. When asked if there are specific plans to counter Palmer, Iraola responded, “It’s very difficult obviously. Sometimes you cannot only focus on Cole Palmer. We know that he’s playing very well and making the numbers. He’s a big threat. But all the players around him are also in a very good moment.”
Palmer’s Impact and Euro 2024 Hopes
Cole Palmer’s form has been so exceptional that he is making a strong case for inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024. Given his consistent performance, it would be surprising if he doesn’t play a significant role in the tournament this summer.
Whether playing as a No. 10 or on the right wing, Palmer has been influential in every game. Remarkably, he has maintained this high level of performance throughout the season. In the last three matches alone, he has scored two goals and provided one assist, continuing to contribute crucially to Chelsea’s success.
As Chelsea aims to secure their place in European competition next season, all eyes will be on Cole Palmer to see if he can deliver yet another stellar performance against Bournemouth.
