In the dynamic landscape of football transfers, journalist Ben Jacobs has unveiled a noteworthy revelation regarding Chelsea’s stance on one player in this current transfer window.
Taking to Twitter, Jacobs asserts that Chelsea appears to have reconsidered their asking price, opting for a considerably lower figure to facilitate the sale of Armando Broja in the closing days of January. Previous reports throughout the month indicated Broja’s availability for transfer, particularly to a Premier League suitor, contingent on the right bid.
Initial reports suggested that Chelsea was steadfastly holding out for a substantial £50 million fee to secure the services of the academy graduate.
Despite the persistent reluctance of potential suitors to meet this asking price, notable interest from clubs such as Fulham and Wolves has remained in the background.
Jacobs discloses the apparent shift in Chelsea’s stance on Broja’s valuation, stating, “Chelsea open to offers for Armando Broja in the final few days of the window. Fulham in talks, but a bid to date is denied. That could well change soon. Wolves also haven’t ruled out a formal offer and are still in the race. Chelsea want a loan with obligation or a permanent transfer for £35m+.”
He further elaborates that some sources suggest Chelsea might entertain a bid as low as £33 million, a figure West Ham reportedly tabled in the summer of 2022. The interested clubs seemingly hold a more conservative valuation than Chelsea presently.
Aston Villa, while not as actively engaged in the discussions at the moment, had previously considered Jhon Duran in a potential swap for Broja.
Despite the potential departure of Broja, Chelsea seems prepared to navigate the remainder of the month with Nicolas Jackson as the solitary recognized striker. The onus will be on Jackson to shoulder the goal-scoring responsibilities until a more permanent solution likely materializes in the upcoming summer transfer window. The dynamics of Chelsea’s transfer dealings continue to unfold in the fast-paced world of football negotiations.
