6years deal finally sealed by Chelsea target
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina, who is highly regarded and has great promise, has been signed by Chelsea. He will officially join the team on January 1 after playing his last MLS season with the Chicago Fire.
The agreement, which will see the 18-year-old sign a 6-year contract through 2028 and return on loan to his birthplace Chicago until the end of the season, was announced today by both sides. According to reports, Chelsea will pay a $10 million transfer fee, with a further $5 million in possible incentives and add-ons.
Slonina, who goes by the moniker “Gaga” (not Lady, but Super), has been making headlines for the past 12 to 18 months. He entered the professional scene with a bang, setting many age records along the way, including being the youngest goalie to ever start an MLS game at the age of 17.
In 2011, when we paid about the same amount on a certain Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea made a similar investment in a goalkeeper at a similar age. That certainly proved to be a wise decision (despite our bitter divorce), so let’s hope Slonina is at least as good as she claims to be.
Gaga, welcome! Let’s earn some prizes!
